Me and My Sulking Mood

Its raining continuously for more than 24 hours here. So dreary and gloomy day it is.And the gloom is spreading on me :(

So what do you do when you sulk (apart from sulking :P) ??
Me: Of course I don't do review of any product....the risk is there that I might only say bad things about it!!
So tried to alter my mood by watching a film. I am complete bollywood buff. Today I watched Kucch Luv Jaisa. Have you watched it?? How did you like it??
Oh and made some chowmein for dad and bro for a snack just now. Don't ask how it tastes! Me not a cook much!
And weather forecasts say it is going to rain tomorrow also.

Ok, I won't bore you with my whining anymore. Will come up with some mood buster posts to perk up myself and you sweet readers soon.

Tips & Toes De’Finers - Cobalt Blue Review

Hi all!
Monsoon arrived here 2 days back. Frequent downpours, muddy puddles, gloomy skies ..No I am not fond of it at all and don’t know what is romantic about the above three (people go silly over rains :P )…Okay it is most welcome after a scorching summer…but the cloudy skies is a mood bummer for me. I like sunny days with light breeze and clear blue skies :)
So adding a bit of color to this gloomy day I would review another twist-up eye pencil in my stash from Tips & Toes in shade Cobalt Blue.

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

Information from their website.
PRICE: Rs.125 (I don’t remember exactly though)

QUANTITY: Not specified. But I guess it to be at 1 - 1.2gm.

SWATCHES:

MY EXPERIENCE:
I use it on both upper and lower eyelids. I don’t use any primer/base. So the color doesn’t show up nicely on the upper lid. My eyes have slight dark circles, maybe that’s why it doesn’t showup so royal blue on my eyes as in the swatches.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Smooth application. Doesn’t tug at the eyes.
  • Didn’t irritate on my waterline.
  • Stays put until rubbed off.
  • Doesn’t smudge but fades away on rubbing.
  • Pocket friendly.
  • Nice shades available. Some shades double up as lip liners.
  • The pencil end shows the shade color. So no need to pull off the cap to see the shade.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • Fades away quickly. Needs reapplication.
  • Color doesn’t show up nicely on eyes(with dark rims) as it does on hands. So, not much suitable for warm/dark skin tones.
  • Availability might be an issue.

VERDICT:
It is an okayish product. Nothing too great/bad. One can experiment with it but I will pass and experiment with some other brands. :)

Elle 18 Nail Pops - Shade 47 Review and my first NOTD for blog

This is one from my recent haul. Elle18 is quite a craze among the teenagers (atleast it was in my teens), because of its dirt price, quirky packaging, and innumerable shades availability. The brand recently got a nice makeover and is now known as Elle 18 Color Bombs with a cute name for each of its range. The nail polishes are named as Nail Pops.

The shade I am reviewing is a sweet summery pink on the darker side. The shade number is 47. No shade name is given.

PRICE:  Rs.45

QUANTITY: 5 ml

INGREDIENTS: Not listed.

Here it is ‘popping my nails’. Please excuse my sloppy application. 2 coats applied without any base coat or top coat.

MY EXPERIENCE:
It was, is and always will be my most affordable brand nail-polish since my teens. This particular shade suits me quite well. Following is my take on the product,

WHAT I LIKED:
  • The color is a pretty pink which I think would suit most of the skin tones.
  • It is sooo affordable. You can surely make a huge collection out of the all 48 shades.
  • Two coats are enough to give an opaque color.
  • Doesn’t lose its shine due to household work.
  • No OTT smell.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • The applicator brush sucks. They could have invested on a makeover for them too.
  • Chips after two days. But I am not complaining. Pricey ones does too.
  • Though it comes with a shelf life of 36 months from pkd. but dries up quickly than that  in the bottle. Also discharges some oily liquid on the top within few weeks. But shaking the bottle prior usage takes care of that.
  • Not all shades are available at the same time at the same place :P

VERDICT:
I like it. Only if they improve the applicator brush! I would collect some other colors that catches my eye. One can play safe with the colors at the same time not make a big hole in their pockets.

Vaseline Healthy White Skin Lightening Body Milk Review

Hey all. Today I am feeling a bit under the weather. A drastic weather change is spreading the viral fever like anything. But hey I still have to do this post for all the love I am getting here. So what’s on the menu today?
It is my all-seasons body lotion - Vaseline Healthy White Skin Lightening Body Milk.

PRICE:  Rs.165

QUANTITY: 300ml

INGREDIENTS:

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

  • Vitamin B3 is known to enhance skin’s natural lightening process to help bring out its natural fairness.
  • Yogurt serum helps provide moisturization and nourishment to skin.
  • Triple sunscreen - to help prevent further darkening caused by damaging, UVA and UVB rays

MY EXPERIENCE:

I started using this product from the time it was launched in India. At that time it used to cost 110 INR then increased to 130 INR and now 165 INR for 300 ml with a Pond’s face wash free nowadays (which I never use). What I love the most about this product is its consistency (seems they have thickened the consistency a bit with price rise). It is very light, feels more like water based.
I have weird skin type – dry to combination sensitive skin which flakes if I don’t use any cream/moisturizer and gets oily after minimal application of those, in all seasons. :(  So this is kinda miracle product which helps my skin a lot in every season. Following is my take on the product,

WHAT I LIKED:

  • It gets absorbed in the skin quickly. The whitish cast vanishes in few seconds.
  • I apply it on my face too as I can’t stand any other heavy creams on my face. It helped a lot in reducing acne marks blemishes. But it may also cause breakouts if applied in really hot and humid weather.
  • Fragrance is very subtle and nice. Lingers on the skin for an hour or two which I like.
  • A daily useable lotion. One 300 ml bottle lasts me 1-1.5 months depending on usage. On hot-humid days I prefer not to apply any lotion/creams.
  • Non sticky and light to feel yet very moisturizing.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • I don’t think it acts greatly as a sunscreen. If I go out then my hands get tanned even after application. But when at home for a few days it helps to regain back the even tone if regularly used.
  • I hate the price hike every few months.
  • When it was launched, I used to get water based consistency feeling from the lotion, now the consistency is more creamy. If it gets any creamier, I would switch to others.
  • Not suitable for people with very dry skin in winters.
  •  Don’t expect it to be a skin whitening product though the name and ads suggests so. Lightens blemishes, tan visibly but only through regular usage.

VERDICT:
Oh I love the product till now. I am even contemplating on to call it my HG body lotion. :) Try it and let me know how you feel about it.

RATINGS:  4.5 out of 5 (-.5 for ever increasing price and consistency)
