ColorBar Nail Lacquer Exclusive - Shade Turquoise 88 Review

It feels like I haven't reviewed any cosmetic product for ages :P. So, today I decided to review the Colorbar Nail Lacquer Exclusive in shade Turquoise 88. Read on to know more about this pretty shade.

PRICE:  Rs.150

QUANTITY: 9 ml

WHAT IT CLAIMS: The Exclusive Nail Polish is unique formulation combines intense color with incredible shine to create perfection and impeccable hold. Its rich color and high sheen formula strengthens nails and keeps them moisturized. The nail polish gives excellent glossy color payoff. Its toluene and DBP free and does not yellow out nails. It makes your hands look neat and salon perfect!

SWATCH:

MY EXPERIENCE: This was so hard to photograph, as it either shows up too blue or too green in the pictures, but its a true turquoise shade with balanced mix of blue and green. I would say the last pic in the bottom row, is somewhat near to the actual shade.

The brush is really nice and helps in even application. The consistency is medium thick and 2 coats gives opaque coverage, and it takes around 15-20 minutes to dry completely. It dries down to a pastel finish with a hint of glossiness. However, it starts chipping at the tips from very next day, and remains wearable for 4-5 days only. And, ColorBar why have you started acting so pricey? :P

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Pretty turquoise shade.
  • Pastel finish with a bit of glossiness.
  • Good quality brush.
  • Medium thick consistency that gives opaque coverage in 2 coats.
  • Comes in 85+ shades to choose from.
  • Its toluene and DBP free.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • It chips at the nail tips from next day.
  • Priced a bit high.
  • Moisturising formula? Err...not sure!

VERDICT: ColorBar Nail Lacquer Exclusive in shade Turquoise is a really pretty shade to have. Quality wise this range is good, but the price pinches a bit. Let me know if you have tried this range.

ColorBar Lip Pot - Shade Pink Velvet (009) Review

You are my pumpkin pumpkin, hello hunny bunny :P I know this song sounds so stupid, but it does get to you right! :P Okay, yeah, I am short of new introduction ideas. So.. be it! :P

Well, today I am going to review the  ColorBar Lip Pot in shade Pink Velvet which I have been eyeing for a really long time, (what's happened to me, 90% of my lippies are pink! but yeah I am surely digging this one...like literally! :P ) and finally got it in my recent Myntra Haul.

PRICE:  Rs.495

QUANTITY: 6 g

INGREDIENTS:

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

Pamper your lips with this deliciously, syrupy lip color. Cushiony and wet, it optically plumps your lips for a sexy plushy pout you will become addicted to ! Comfortable and emollient. Lips that look lush, plush and gorgeous.

SWATCH:
Left: Hand swatch in flash;     Right: Top: In Lowlight; Middle: Daylight; Bottom: With Flash;

MY EXPERIENCE:
ColorBar Lip Pot, as the name suggests, is a lipstick+gloss in a pot. The shade Pink Velvet is a pretty pink, with purple undertones, which would suit most of the skin tones. The texture is very smooth and creamy, and glides on lips easily and doesn't settle in fine lines. It moisturises lips and keeps it hydrated for really long, even in this winter without any lipbalm underneath.  It gives a plush, glossy finish, which fades as the hours pass by. The plump effect is due to this gloss like finish.

Coming to the staying power. It easily lasts through 4-5 hours wear even with little snacking in between, but obviously doesn't survive a large meal as it is so creamy. After which it leaves a dark pint tint, which looks good on its own too. Only con about this one, is that its not an on-the-go lippie, as you surely need a lip brush and ample time to apply it with precision, else it does tend to bleed a little. It's a bit pricey, but then the quantity and the quality compensates for it. To sum it up,

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Creamy, soft texture that glides easily on lips.
  • Gives a glossy, plumpy effect.
  • Moisturises lips for as long as it stays.
  • Easily lasts through 4-5 hours of wear, even with a little snacking in between.
  • Pink Velvet is a pretty pink shade with purple undertones that would suit most skin tones.
  • This shade leaves a dark pinkish tint.
  • Little pricey but the quantity and the quality you get compensates for it.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • Requires a little precision to apply else it might bleed.
  • Can't use it on-the-go, as a lip brush is required.

VERDICT: I love the shade. I love the texture. I love the staying power. I love it on me. Need I say more? ;) Let me know, if you have tried it and whether you liked it or not! :)

ColorBar True Gloss Lip Gloss - Shade Nectar Orange Review

Hey ya beauties! :-h Weekend is here and I am sure you guys are pretty busy with the Diwali preparations and all the last minute shopping. And just in case you are planning to get a hot shade lippy for yourself to rock this Diwali, then just hear me out or rather read on my review for the ColorBar True Gloss Lip Gloss in Shade Nectar Orange.

PRICE:
Rs. 495

QUANTITY: 3.8ml

INGREDIENTS:

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

Colorbar True Gloss collection is here to expunge your woes of having to touch up your lip gloss every now and then. It is highly pigmented and gives your lips a divine shine. Its ultra-moisturizing formula will keep your lips soft and smooth for hours together.

True Gloss is a glossy, non-sticky, pigmented, opaque coverage, moisturizing, long lasting lip color. It doesn’t get patchy or uneven and feels very comfortable, light and hydrating on the lips and stays for a LONG time without getting sticky/drying or uneven.

SWATCH:

MY EXPERIENCE: OMG, just look at the color, it looks so different in different light/camera settings, and all the shades are true I promise, I didn't add any filter or anything. However, the first and second pic in the top row actually matches the original tube color. It is a bright, a very bright, coral with hues of dark pink, that fades to a reddish tinge, colored lipgloss. It is so highly pigmented that one swipe deposits enough color to hide pigmentation. On initial application it looks bright red orange, that then tones down to a more orangy shade. After an hour or so the glossiness vanishes, and then I am left with a rusty red tint that lasts for 4-5 hours, so it is definitely long lasting.

I do not dare to wear this gloss in its full strength outside, just wear it as a tint (as seen in the first two pics here). And it lasts for 2-3 hours easily that way, after which I need re-application. It doesn't survive heavy meals but lasts through little snacking. When worn in full strength, it tends to bleed a little, so you need to be careful. It is quite creamy and moisturising on initial application, but after 4-5 hours I feel it dries up my lips a little. This new range from ColorBar, though priced a little higher, is certainly a must try.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Amazingly pigmented.
  • Quite long-lasting being a gloss.
  • Creamy and moisturising, and not sticky/shimmery like other glosses.
  • The shade Nectar Orange is a bright orange/coral pink shade that looks quite different under different lights, and would suit most skintones, as it just brightens up the face.
  • No nonsense, glass tube packaging with a doe foot applicator.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • Bleeds a little.
  • My lips feel dry when the tint fades away, so a lip balm beneath is recommended.
  •  The price is slightly high.

VERDICT: I am eyeing to get another one from the pink family from this range. I am sure you too would get a fave from the 10 amazing shades available in this True Gloss range. Let me know if you have tried any of the ColorBar True Gloss Lip Gloss.

Random Swatch Post: Faces, ColorBar, Tips & Toes

Hey ya ladies! I was just going through some of my clicked-for-blog pictures and thought of sharing some swatches of the products that were repurchased in different shades. The pics were taken at different times, in different lights, and sometimes in different moods ;). So kindly excuse the quality of some of the pictures, but I have tried my best to present the accurate colors, as always.

Faces Canada long wear eye pencil
(click on the link to read my review) has been one of my favorites of all time, and I got it in two other shades, Purple and Metal Brown,

ColorBar Velvet Matte Lipstick (click on the link to read my review) has been a cult favorite (and mine too), for budget matte lipstick and this time I got it in the shade Oh My Magenta, which is the second brightest hot pink/candy pink shade in my recent acquisitions :P, as I was discussing in my earlier posts.

Next up, Tips & Toes Nail Enamel (click on the link to read my review) in shade Moscow (45). They have changed the bottle (as you can see from my previous review) and hiked the price and lessened the quantity too *hmph*. Rs. 50 for 5ml and Rs.95 for 9ml.

That's it for now and I hope these swatches would be of some help to you.
#TGIF happy weekend everyone ;).

ColorBar Blush - Shade Plum Brown Review

Hola ladies! I am seriously lagging behind on my posts. But, at times I couldn't muster the energy to post even when I plan to do. And, when I sit to do one, my internet chooses to betray me at that moment. Like today, I spent 2-3 hours doing nothing but to wait for it to get stable. Uggghhh!! And before it changes its mood again, let me get on with today's review.

I don't know how I became so crazy for blushes suddenly, and now I hardly go out without wearing some. So, today I would be reviewing the ColorBar Blush in shade Plum Brown.

 PRICE: Rs.300

QUANTITY: 6g

WHAT THEY CLAIM: Available in five shades, Plum Brown, Cosmic Rose, Fuchsia, Peachy Rose and Just Earth, the Blusher accentuates the cheek area giving a glow to the face.

This silky powder contains a moisture balance formula that is easy to blend and keeps the skin smooth, hydrated and nourished for soft cheeks with just the right hint of color.

INGREDIENTS:

SWATCH:

Left: Blended    Right: Unblended

MY EXPERIENCE:

I wanted to try Peachy Rose but, it was OOS, but I am glad I got the Plum Brown one because Peachy Rose seems to be similar to my Deborah Milano Rosa Pesca and I wouldn't have liked two similar buys at the same time. Plum Brown is a powdered blush with finely milled particles and hence blends easily. It is shimmerless and the shade is a pretty light brown with just a hint of peach (I don't see plum) that would flatter most of the skintones. For very fair tones this can used for contouring too. On an average it stays for more than 4 hours on my dry skin with very slight fading. The packaging is sturdy, with two compartments inside. The upper one has the blush, while the lower one has an attached mirror and a small brush which is really soft but shreds like crazy. It would have been a perfect travel friendly blush, had the brush was a little more useful.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Highly pigmented and easy to blend.
  • Didn't cause breakout or irritation.
  • This shade is non-shimmery and can be worn anytime.
  • Can be layered to use for contouring.
  • Stays for more than 4 hours on me.
  • Price is comparatively reasonable for the quantity, but I hope they don't hike the prices again.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • The brush is soft but shreds crazily and hence can't be used.
  • Almost all the shades look similar to me barring the peachy rose.
VERDICT:
If you are new to blushes, it's a nice brand to start with, without burning a hole in the pocket. For me, other than the peachy Rose I might not get any other shade, though I really loved the quality.

ColorBar Velvet Matte Lipstick - Shade Bare Review

I can be such a moody person at times, giving everyone a hard time, and depending on my mood, my choices changes too. So, I was more of a lipgloss girl for last few good years and suddenly, I am hoarding lipsticks of all kinds.

And, while I am going through this *lipstick phase*, let me present to you the latest addition to my stash, ColorBar Velvet Matte Lipstick in shade Bare.

I am sure, you all have heard a lot about this range of lipsticks. I just want to vouch for all the good points already shared in the blogger world about these and just add my two cents on them.

PRICE: Rs.225

QUANTITY: 4.2 g

WHAT IT CLAIMS: For a rich lip colour with a creamy shine, the Velvet Matte Lipstick, available in 45 stunning shades infuse the lips with vibrancy. Its unique 2-in-1 formulation gives the lips a creamy, yet matte finish. A one of a kind product in India, it has super softening agents that give the lips a soft and supple appearance while keep them nourished with Vitamin E. Staying on up to 5 hours on application, the Velvet Matte Lipstick can be further accentuated with lip gloss and lip liner.

SWATCHES:

MY EXPERIENCE: ColorBar Velvet Matte Lipstick in shade Bare, is another congenial shade like the Maybelline CS My Mahogany, a brownish pink shade with a hint of peach. It looks more peach on my lips in the day time, while more pinkish in artificial light at night, and gives a matte finish to the lips. It is quite creamy and moisturizing being a matte lipstick, with a subtle vanilla smell in the tube but I can't decipher it much on my lips and it doesn't have any distinct taste. It lasts really long, even survives through heavy meals, leaving a nice deep pink tint, very near to my original lipcolor, which I loved the most about this lippie. Let me summarize all the points for you.

WHAT I LIKED:
  •  Gives opaque coverage in just one swipe.
  • The shade 'Bare' would compliment all types of skintone as it adjusts itself according to your tone.
  • It has strong staying power of over 5-6 hours and surpasses heavy meals. I am a big fan of the lovely dark pink tint it leaves even when it fades out.
  • It is quite creamy and moisturizing being a matte lipstick and didn't dry out my lips much.
  • Comes at a very reasonable price and available in a huge array of 45 shades to choose from, though all the shades are hardly available at one place.
  • Comes in a nice attractive packaging with a shade indicator at the bottom, which is really helpful, if you own too many shades from this range.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • It accentuates the fine lines on my lips.
  • It is not transfer-proof.

VERDICT: I am currently obsessed with this lipstick and it is giving a very hard competition to my Maybelline CS ones. I would love to try out many more amazing shades from this range. If you still haven't tried them, I recommend this to you, as they are great quality matte lipsticks at such unbeatable price.

After I got all of them I noticed, that I actually got blushes in all forms too, i.e Baked, Cream and Pressed Powder format. I am loving all the three blushes as of now. Would post my reviews soon. :D

A collective mini haul :)

Hey ya beauties! As you might have seen on my FB page updates that I am on a shopping spree for last few weeks, from December end till January end to be precise, as all the sites were coming up with some lovely discounts or offer, and also found new websites to try out. More on that later, below is the collective pic of almost everything I got :D

Yup! THE THREE BLUSHES :D
Two weeks ago I didn't own any blush so as to speak of, and then I went crazy and got three. I know all three of them have been reviewed innumerable times. Adding mine won't harm anyone right :P

I ordered my first blush, Deborah Milano in shade Rosa Pesca, which was on my wishlist for a long time and it was available on HealthKart.com. So I ordered one along with Garnier Body Cocoon Lotion.

This time they packaged everything nicely and my order was delivered within 4 days time which is quite an improvement over the last time. Still, it was the last to arrive even though I ordered this first :P
You can read my complete experience here.

Moving on to the next,

I *quenched my thirst* for NYX products atlast. Ordered their Long eye pencil in Silver along with the Faces Long Wear in Forest Green from StyleCraze.com during their year end sale.I wanted the tea rose lippie too but it wasn't there.

And again ordered from their NYX sale, for the NYX cream blush in shade Natural along with few other stuff, but again missed on the lippie as it went Out Of Stock :(
My first order was delivered in 2 days and the second order in just 1 day! Beat that! :D But, I am missing their free gifts they were giving during their launch.
You can read my experience on Stylecraze.com here and know why I go gaga over it.

On to the next, the new website I was talking about is the MakeUpShades.com.

Ordered a ColorBar blush in Plum Brown and Velvet Matte Lipstick in Bare :D. Reviews and my shopping experience on the site coming up next :). In case you still want to check it out first, they are giving a special 10% discount on a purchase of Rs.500 or above, use code: 2M68R62N valid till 26th Jan, 2012, so hurry! :)

And lastly, the products I have been hunting for long. I finally found a Patanjali outlet near to my place and got their most proclaimed Aloe Vera Gel :D, along with some other bathing soaps.

I hope you all liked my little haul. :-*

P.S. Do you like this font size or do you want me to go back to the previous one? Let me know along with your comments. :)

ColorBar I-Glide Eye pencil- Shade CocoBar Review

Hello beauties! As my love for kohl liners is maxifying, so is my hunt for different brands of them. Today I am going to review the ColorBar I-Glide Eye pencil in Shade CocoBar which I bought on my birthday a few weeks back.

PRICE:  Rs. 325

QUANTITY: Not mentioned.

SWATCH:

WHAT IT CLAIMS:
"Defines like a pencil and glides like liquid eyeliner, the I-Glide Eye Pencil, with its smooth formulation, gives your eyes rich colour in a single stroke and blends in easily after application. Lasts longer than 8 hours; does not feather or bleed."

MY EXPERIENCE:
After reading many reviews on many blogs I sought out this product but it disappointed me a little. Maybe I expected too much out of it.  I am using it for last three weeks. Here is what I think of it.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • It has a smooth creamy texture that glides on easily.
  • True to its claim it doesn’t smudge and stays put for longer hours.
  • The color payoff is good and shows up on my eyes and I received a few compliments on that. ;)
  • It is waterproof so won’t run down with your tears :P
  • Available in 6 amazing shades viz. Silver hue, CocoBar, Jaded, Electra, Prunella and Blackout.
  • I love the packaging. The body of the pencil is made of some fibre and not wood and is a classy silver color with colored end that shows the color of the shade. The size of the pencil is compact and would easily fit in purses or makeup bag.

    WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
    • I don’t know why but it gives a drying sensation/irritation to my eyes when applied on the lower lashline or waterline. My eyes water up on application but it becomes okay after some 10-15 minutes. Maybe I get used to it by then.
    • The tip becomes blunt after every use. Needs sharpening everytime, even though one can never get a pointed tip for a thin line. I am more of a fan of retractable pencils.
    • The pencil I received has got an expiry date within next 6 months, hence I am using it up as quickly as possible.
    • Considering the cons the price is a bit on the higher side.

    VERDICT:
I found the product to be decent but I guess it could have been better. I think I would get many other brands within this range that might surpass this.

ColorBar Perfect Gloss-Winter Plum (004) Review

I am more of a lipgloss girl than a lipstick one. This is my first gloss from ColorBar. I bought it from a pantaloons outlet some 2 years back and at that time I had never heard of this brand. When the SA was swatching it on my hand, I was skeptical about the product.  But, recently when I started my online makeup quest, I came across some great reviews about this brand. It was an eye-opener for me that pocket-friendly makeup is not only about Lakme, Maybelline or Elle18 products. My gloss is now nearing its expiry date and I have also stopped using it for quite sometime because it is giving some weird oily smell.

Let’s get on with this product,

PRICE: I don’t remember exactly. Blame it on my memory or my disinterest when I bought it. But, when I googled it up it showed around Rs.125.

    QUANTITY: 6ml.

    SHADE: Winter Plum (004)

    SWATCH:

    INGREDIENTS: Not listed.

    MY EXPERIENCE:

I don’t do much makeup. A bit of gloss and some kohl liner is what I need most of the occasions. Hence any make up product lasts me very long and some goes to waste too :(

    WHAT I LIKED:
    • The color pay-off  is good.
    • It did not dry out or chapped my lips. Well, I guess I have normal lips. They don’t dry out or get chapped easily.
