Faces Velvet Kohl Noir Intense Review

Hey, I am back again girlies! ;) And today's review is on Faces Velvet Kohl Noir Intense, from which I had a lot of expectations but it failed me completely. Read on to know why!

PRICE:  Rs. 269

QUANTITY: 1.2 g

WHAT IT CLAIMS:
This longstay kohl glides like velvet on the inner rim of the eye. Its shiny one stroke application is suited for hot and humid climatic conditions. use with FACES dual eye-pencil sharpener, for best results.

SWATCH:

MY EXPERIENCE: Faces Velvet Kohl Noir Intense comes in a wooden pencil form that need sharpening after every 1-2 times use, leading to wastage. The tip is so malleable that it breaks easily. Coming to one good point, the pigmentation is really nice and one-two strokes gives a glossy, black line. But that's all the goodness it has.

It smudges easily. One light swipe of finger and it comes off. I prefer to use it for lower lashline or tightline. It gets removed easily (so obvious!). I feel the LongWear range from Faces performs way better than this at lesser price.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Gives glossy black lines in 1-2 swipes.
  • Looks good on tightlining.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • Smudges easily.
  • Isn't waterproof.
  • Poor staying power.
  • Too little quantity.
  • Price pinches as it doesn't work.

VERDICT: As I said, I expected it to be good, but it seems I wasted my money on it.  Have you tried the Faces Velvet Kohl Noir Intense?

RATINGS:  3 out of 5

A small makeup haul :)

Yay! Finally hauled for some makeup products (albeit only 4 products) after so many days :P! I did shop in between too, but it was again some skincare and hair care items, that I didn't bother to share. ;)

Got these stuff from MedplusBeauty. Sneak peek below,

What did I get?

  • Lakme Absolute Bi Phased Makeup Remover
  • Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner
  • Lakme EyeConic Curling Mascara
  • Faces Velvet Kohl Noir Intense
  • Enliven Natural Fruit Extracts Raspberry & Redapple Shampoo (Free! Free! Free! :P)

On some other news, you must have heard that Urban Touch closed their shop (heard they merged with Fashion & You!). Since the competition is going down, MedplusBeauty became the big, bad daddy of online shopping, and have increased their minimum purchase amount to Rs.600 to avail free shipping and imposing a COD charge of Rs.50 on all orders. Boohoo! :(

Did you haul recently? What did you get?

Random Swatch Post: Faces, ColorBar, Tips & Toes

Hey ya ladies! I was just going through some of my clicked-for-blog pictures and thought of sharing some swatches of the products that were repurchased in different shades. The pics were taken at different times, in different lights, and sometimes in different moods ;). So kindly excuse the quality of some of the pictures, but I have tried my best to present the accurate colors, as always.

Faces Canada long wear eye pencil
(click on the link to read my review) has been one of my favorites of all time, and I got it in two other shades, Purple and Metal Brown,

L: One very very light swipe   R: One - two normal swipes

ColorBar Velvet Matte Lipstick (click on the link to read my review) has been a cult favorite (and mine too), for budget matte lipstick and this time I got it in the shade Oh My Magenta, which is the second brightest hot pink/candy pink shade in my recent acquisitions :P, as I was discussing in my earlier posts.

Next up, Tips & Toes Nail Enamel (click on the link to read my review) in shade Moscow (45). They have changed the bottle (as you can see from my previous review) and hiked the price and lessened the quantity too *hmph*. Rs. 50 for 5ml and Rs.95 for 9ml.

That's it for now and I hope these swatches would be of some help to you.
#TGIF happy weekend everyone ;).

Faces Canada Nail Enamel - Shade Persimmon(01) Review

Hey ya ladies! I am back with another nail polish review. I was looking for some neon orange and yellow shades. Faces Canada has been one of my favourite brands and I thought of trying out their nail polishes this time, and got the Persimmon shade for myself. Did it became my fave? Read on to know more.

PRICE: Rs.99

QUANTITY: 7ml

SWATCH / NOTD:

You can also check two more NOTDs with this polish, here and here

MY EXPERIENCE: First thing that caught my attention, was the shade. It reminds me of the color of the pulp of a ripe mango. Not that I am a big fan of mangoes, but the color is so beautiful. It is a neonish, bright orangish shade, the kind that makes mothers go "eew! what kind of shade is that" :P. The consistency is medium thick and would have spread nicely, had the brush was better at applying. The brush is pathetic (sorry forgot to take a pic of it) and almost like a "jhaaru (sweeper's brush :P)". It makes application streaky and putting a second coat turns horrific. It takes around 15 mins to dry up, and starts chipping in two days on my nails but that might be due to uneven application. What I have seen from other swatches, the 40+ available shades are a mix of different finishes and quality. So, my views are specific for this shade only.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • The shade is a bright orange shade which I like.
  • No OTT smell.
  • It is Toluene & DBP free.
  • 40+ shades to choose from.
  • Dries up decently fast.
  • Pretty affordable.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • The brush with this shade is pathetic. I hope they get consistent with the packaging and brushes, as I have heard good reviews for some shades and not so good reviews for some other shades.
  • Availability might be a problem, though you can buy it easily online.
VERDICT:
I really liked the shade. But because of the brush, I am not willing daring to try out the other shades. Hope I have a better luck if I get one next time.

Did I say no more eyeliners for me? grrr...Well, I got the Purple shade from Faces Long wear range as I was wanting this shade for a long time. I ordered one more item which is again from Vedic Line range. It was an anti-wrinkle blend, but it got OOS before my order was sent out! :( I am waiting for them to re-stock it and they promised to keep one for me. ;)

Now comes the best part. Recently, I won a Soulflower gift voucher from our lovely Lancy's giveaway! So I placed an order with Soulflower for a few things on 7th June and received my parcel on 9th itself. Ain't that super fast! :D Here is what I got!

The Purple Bite EOTD: Entry 1 for Zestful nails L'Oreal Festive Eye Makeup

Hi beauties! Uzma, the awesome blogger from Zestful Nails has come up with an exciting makeup contest sponsored by L'Oreal Paris to celebrate their 15 Year partnership with the Cannes Film Festival as their official makeup artist & also the launch of their L'Or Electric range.

Following is my 1st entry for the contest!

Applied Vedic Line+ BB cream and set with Lakme Rose powder.

For the eyes,
  • First I applied the dark purple shade (marked) from Faces I shine quad on the outer V area.
  • Next applied the vibrant pink shade (marked) from Faces I shine quad on the inner half lid area and blended it in to the outer half.
  • Next applied a highlighter shade(marked) from NYX 78 colors palette.
  • Lined my upper and lower lash lines with Bourjois Glitter Fizz eyeliner in black.
  • Used the Lotus Herbals Maxlash Botanical mascara to complete look.
Rest of the makeup was kept simple, with a hint of Deborah Milano Rosa Pesca blush on the cheeks and Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick in Bare on lips topped with NYX Lip Laquer Pot in Love in Paris.

Faces Canada long wear eye pencil - Shade Forest Green Review

Hola ladies! Since I made a leap into the huge beauty blog world and got addicted to try out the beauty products, one of the products that is ever increasing in my stash is the Eye pencils in different colors, forms and brands! ;)

Today, I would like to review a pretty new entrant to my humble stash, which surely proved itself to be worth it. Yes guys, I am talking about the Faces Canada long wear eye pencils and the shade I am reviewing is Forest Green. Read on my full review,

QUANTITY: 1.15 g

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

Soft gentle pencils in a rainbow of shades. Use them to enhance your natural eye color for dramatic effect or give you that bright-eyed glow. Gentle and safe for sensitive eyes.

SWATCH:

Used it on upper and lower lashlines in EOTD here.

MY EXPERIENCE: Faces Canada long wear eye pencil is a soft, highly pigmented, sharpenable pencil that add a little drama to your eyes on a dull day. It applies too smoothly, without any tugging on the eyelids, doesn't need any pressure to produce intense lines. Only one swipe gives an intense line of color with a metallic sheen to it, and it lasts throughout the day without smudging or any fading until it is removed using some cleanser. The tip is very soft, and might break or messy if a little pressure is applied as you can see in the swatch above. So in a nutshell,

WHAT I LIKED:
  •  Soft textured pencil that glides smoothly without any tugging on the eyes.
  • Gives an intense color with a metallic sheen in just a single swipe.
  • Lasts throughout the whole day without smudging or fading unless you accidentally rub it hard too often.
  • Very pocket friendly and the quantity would last long.
  • Available in many pretty shades.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • Like other non-retractable pencils, this requires sharpening and the jagged ends are a piss-off when you are in a hurry  .
  • The tip is soft and prone to breakage under pressure.
  • When I try to do thick lines, it takes a little longer to dry and a bit of color transfers to the crease area if I am not careful, which I don't like at all.
VERDICT: It is definitely a must buy if you are into color eye pencils. I am looking forward to try out the turquoise and purple shades from this range.

RATINGS: 4.5 out of 5

A collective mini haul :)

Hey ya beauties! As you might have seen on my FB page updates that I am on a shopping spree for last few weeks, from December end till January end to be precise, as all the sites were coming up with some lovely discounts or offer, and also found new websites to try out. More on that later, below is the collective pic of almost everything I got :D

Yup! THE THREE BLUSHES :D
Two weeks ago I didn't own any blush so as to speak of, and then I went crazy and got three. I know all three of them have been reviewed innumerable times. Adding mine won't harm anyone right :P

I ordered my first blush, Deborah Milano in shade Rosa Pesca, which was on my wishlist for a long time and it was available on HealthKart.com. So I ordered one along with Garnier Body Cocoon Lotion.

This time they packaged everything nicely and my order was delivered within 4 days time which is quite an improvement over the last time. Still, it was the last to arrive even though I ordered this first :P
You can read my complete experience here.

Moving on to the next,

I *quenched my thirst* for NYX products atlast. Ordered their Long eye pencil in Silver along with the Faces Long Wear in Forest Green from StyleCraze.com during their year end sale.I wanted the tea rose lippie too but it wasn't there.

And again ordered from their NYX sale, for the NYX cream blush in shade Natural along with few other stuff, but again missed on the lippie as it went Out Of Stock :(
My first order was delivered in 2 days and the second order in just 1 day! Beat that! :D But, I am missing their free gifts they were giving during their launch.
You can read my experience on Stylecraze.com here and know why I go gaga over it.

On to the next, the new website I was talking about is the MakeUpShades.com.

Ordered a ColorBar blush in Plum Brown and Velvet Matte Lipstick in Bare :D. Reviews and my shopping experience on the site coming up next :). In case you still want to check it out first, they are giving a special 10% discount on a purchase of Rs.500 or above, use code: 2M68R62N valid till 26th Jan, 2012, so hurry! :)

And lastly, the products I have been hunting for long. I finally found a Patanjali outlet near to my place and got their most proclaimed Aloe Vera Gel :D, along with some other bathing soaps.

I hope you all liked my little haul. :-*

P.S. Do you like this font size or do you want me to go back to the previous one? Let me know along with your comments. :)
