I was never much of single brand follower for shampoos and did not categorize them. I have rough, dry, frizzy hair which lost its shine over the years. One thing you must know about my hair type and routine is that I have a habit of shampooing my hair daily (In case you “think” you misread it :P …yes, I shampoo my hair daily and no, I have not become bald or anything). If I don’t then I get a feeling of grimy and unclean hair. Since we all have to endure the dirt, pollution and smoke whenever we go out, I believe if you use soap in your bath daily then why not shampoo your hair too.
But my hair became so dull and I am also suffering from hairfall problem that I needed to do something about it. So I picked up this, L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Repairing shampoo for damaged hair, some 3-4 months back since it claims to solve 5 kinds of hair problems: breakage, dryness, roughness, dullness and split ends.
PRICE: Rs.130 (Rs.110 on offer now) for 200ml.
It is available in smaller quantity also (Rs.72 for 100ml shampoo).
WHAT IT CLAIMS:
The 1st Total Repair for damaged hair with Ceramide cement that fights five hair problem- Hair fall, dryness, roughness, Dullness and Splits Ends. This technology replicates the hair’s natural cement. It helps repair and strengthen the hair’s fibre and smoothen its surface.
Damaged hair loses its cement that keeps it strong and healthy. L’Oreal laboratories have developed a repairing formula with Ceramide Cement that works similarly to natural ceramide that fills the cracks, seal the scales and the hair is repaired.
PROVEN RESULTS: Day after day, combat the 5 signs of damaged hair with 1 solution for hair to become:
1. Stronger ; 2. Nourished; 3. Shinier; 4. Smoother ; 5.Less Split-ends
TOTAL REPAIR 5 : 5 PROBLEMS= 1 SOLUTION.
INGREDIENTS:
The ingredient list is given on the back side. Here is a snapshot of the list. I am not good in chemistry hence cant say which ingredient is good and which is not. Hope you can read it.
MY EXPERIENCE:
I use this shampoo everyday. I don’t apply conditioners daily though. I always had this funny feeling with other shampoos, that they give their best results in first wash but fail to do anything on regular usage. So sometimes I used to think to use a new shampoo every day :P . Now coming back to L’Oreal Total Repair 5 shampoo,
WHAT I LIKED:
- It definitely made my hair shinier. Just not for the first wash but after every wash.
- It partially helped my hairfall problem. It did not completely stop it but there is some notable difference.
- It made my hair soft too.
- I just love the smell of this shampoo. It is mild and stays on for a while.
- It did not dry out my scalp.
- The consistency is neither too thick nor too thin. Just the right proportion.
#Tip: If your shampoo is of very thick, creamy/gel consistency make sure to dilute it on your hands with water before applying it on your hair. This will lead to less breakage while foaming up your hair.
- I love the color of the packaging. White, red and a strip of gold. All three are my favourite colors.
- I don’t have split ends. So cannot comment on that.
#Tip: Don’t expect a shampoo to work on existing split ends. If you have split ends make sure you trim your hair to an inch above the ends. Then you can try this shampoo and see if they are coming back or not.
- The price is pocket friendly considering the quantity.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
- It did not solve my frizzy hair problem. I expected it to work on that too.
- It did not completely recover my hairfall problem.
VERDICT:
Overall, I am highly satisfied with this shampoo. I am using it regularly for past 3-4 months. A 200ml bottle lasts me about 1 month roughly.
I would definitely recommend it to others to try atleast once.
RATINGS: 4.5 out of 5
