Little some things from Soulflower

Just wanted to share my recent little haul from Soulflower.

As they were giving a holi special discount on the Bath Salts, I thought of getting one for me and chose the Passionate Watermelon one.

Also added these two little roll-ons to the basket as I wanted to try them out for so long, one in Feel Sexy and the other in PMS Relief.

I am very happy with the aromas I chose as they suit my olfactory senses completely :D. The Feel Sexy one smells as sexy as it sounds and OMG! the lasting power is amazing. I am yet to try out the other two products but would review them soon (...hope so :P )! Oh, and I got a Jasmine soap sample free with my purchase and that too smells heavenly, which by the way, my mom snatched from me. :P

Did you buy anything from SoulFlower recently ?

Soulflower Healthy Hair Aroma Massage Oil Review

Hey ya ladies! So, how many of you hate oiling your hair, raise your hands! *Mine would be the first to rise*. I hated it since my childhood and stopped oiling my hair for a long time (read: years). Then I would take pity on my dry/damaging hair sometimes and would oil it occasionally. I was never satisfied with any, and would totally loathe the chipku (sticky/oily) feeling most of them give.

But that never stopped me from buying and trying different oils, and the recent one I got, is from Soulflower Healthy Hair Aroma Massage Oil and here is my review on it.

PRICE:  Rs. 450.00

QUANTITY: 90ml

INGREDIENTS: Lavender, rosemary, neem, juniper, emblica officinalis essential oils, jojoba, olive, coconut & castor oils.

WHAT IT CLAIMS:
" This special blend provides all round strength & energy to your hair. Prevents hair fall & premature baldness, promotes hair growth, reduces itchiness & dry scalp conditions that lead to dandruff. "

MY EXPERIENCE: The first thing that caught my attention about this oil, is that it doesn't make any tall claims, of doing so and so things in so and so time. It just claims to give Healthy hair and it actually makes hair look healthy. The ingredients list shows the blend of all the recommended oils required for good hair growth which I like. Another fact I love about it is that, it isn't sticky/oily. It's thick (since it has castor oil and olive oil) in texture but not chipku champu type, if you know what I mean. And it smells really sweet, I don't know why I identify it with the sweet aroma of fennel seeds, though it's not there in the ingredients :P. I have been using it once/twice every week and like to keep it overnight before washing it off. It washes off easily leaving a softness and shine that makes hair look healthy and adds volume too.

I don't have much of dandruff problem, so can't comment if it works on it or not.  Only thing I really don't like about this, is the packaging and the pin hole mouth, as it isn't exactly functional for this purpose. And it's the same case for most of the massage oils in their range. I need to put so much pressure to get the required amount of oil that the shape of the bottle gets deformed as a result. :P I hope if anyone from Soulflower is reading this, then please do something about this packaging problem.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • It makes my dry hair look healthy and adds volume to it.
  • Doesn't give sticky oily feeling like with most hair oils.
  • I love the sweet aroma of the oil, though others might/might not like it as it is a bit strong and stays for a good while, but that's a personal preference.
  • Soulflower claims to make effective products out of fresh fruit and vegetables and the finest essential oils without animal ingredients. And they don't do animal testing either.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • The packaging isn't functional and could be improvised.
  • The price is on the higher side.
  • Soulflower products have only 1 flagship store at Inorbit Mall, Malad as of now, but is easily available online.

VERDICT: For the first time I look forward to this haircare routine of oiling my hair, and I love how it works on my hair. Definitely recommended!

Soulflower Bite Me Chocolate Soap Review

Yummy chocolate pastries, choco chips and chocolate sauce laden sundae icecreams, how do they sound as companions for a bath? :D That's what I can only think about, when I use the Soulflower Bite Me Chocolate Soap! And if you are a chocolate fanatic then you would be on cloud nine, but beware, the soap is not edible even though it says 'bite me' and smells yum!

PRICE: Rs. 200.00

QUANTITY: 150gm

INGREDIENTS:

1. Real dark chocolate is made from raw cocoa, which has the maximum amount of antioxidants & flavanols making it an excellent moisturizer that leaves your skin soft & glowing.

2. Cocoa powder imparts a wonderful aroma & is a powerful antioxidant which protects & frees the skin from free radicals, that cause significant damage to skin layers.

3. Cocoa butter is obtained from the same bean as chocolate & is made up of small particles that penetrate even the smallest of pores; giving it high moisturizing qualities that help protect & soften skin. Imparts a rich & creamy lather to the soap.

Contains : Real dark chocolate, cocoa powder, cocoa butter, Vitamin E, glycerin, milk, aqua, saponified oils of olive, coconut, castor, palm & palm kernel.

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

" Some people say there are some things that chocolate can't do, but this yummy mouthwatering soap begs to differ. This moisturizer cum soap will coat your skin with soft luscious butters, helping to prevent skin from drying out & cell renewal & rejuvenating properties of chocolate keep your skin supple & radiant.
Take this chocolate bar into the shower everyday with you; enjoy its rich, creamy lather to get super soft skin. Suitable for dry, broken sensitive skin."

MY EXPERIENCE: The huge bar with the delightful chocolate smell smothers the senses from the first whiff! I got a bit smarter from my last experience, and this time I cut the soap into four pieces, and this way it lasted 4 times longer than the last time. From insides, it does look like chocolate sponge cake and I was really tempted to get a bite of it! :P But, I controlled myself and used it in the proper way only. It is neither drying nor too moisturising on my dry skin. I do need a layer of moisturiser to beat the slight stretchiness after a bath. Also, the yummy chocolaty smell is not retained by the skin at all :( , but it permeates through my whole bathroom and it smells like chocolate heaven ;) It does lather very well, and the lather itself is a creamy light brown in color. It cleanses skin properly, without any residual heavy feeling. To sum it up,

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Yummy chocolate smell to give you daydreams of a chocolate wonderland while you take a bath. :P
  • Vegan lovers, this is good news for you as it contains only vegan ingredients and other essential oils.
  • Lathers decently and doesn't dry out my skin.
  • Good quantity at a good price and lasts longer if properly used.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • I didn't find it moisturising enough, as per the claims.
  • The smell is not retained by the skin.
VERDICT: Soulflower range is made of mainly vegan ingredients and goodness of essential oils. If I have to recommend one soap from this range, then I would say indulge in the Bite Me Chocolate for sure! :) Don't forget to check out their super cute website!

Soulflower Jasmine Soap Review

Hello beauties! Tomorrow is Valentine's Day! :D But, me not happy as I don't have any special plan (as he is not here :( ). But do share your pretty plans and mushy stories with me. That would make it up for me. :D
Anywho, let's get back to today's product review. Yes, the much awaited Soulflower products that I received way long back, but got to try it out only recently. The product I am about to review today is the Jasmine soap from the Soulflower kit.

PRICE: Rs.200

QUANTITY: 150 gm

INGREDIENTS:

Jasmine essential oil acts as a
1.antidepressant
2.aphrodisiac properties.
3.intoxicating scent is incredibly soothing & uplifting.
4.melting away negative feelings & inhibitions.
Jasmine essential oil, fresh jasmine flowers, Vitamin E, glycerin, aqua, olive, rice bran, coconut, castor &  palm oil.

WHAT THEY CLAIM:

"The jasmine flower is known for its alluring aphrodisiac aroma. What you may not know is that it also reduces muscle stiffness, sprains & other physical aches. Treats headaches, coughs & breathing difficulties.
This soap improves skin elasticity, helping to reduce visibility of scars & stretch marks. It  leaves your skin gently cleansed & lightly perfumed as you leave the bath. Use to reduce greasy skin, while soothing dry, sensitive & irritated skin."

MY EXPERIENCE: When I first received this soap, I was skeptical about the fact that it smelled of Jasmine and I mostly abhor products with strong Jasmine smell and thought this would turn out to be the same. But, when I smelled the soap for the first time I found the smell to be very muted, which was definitely a *thumbs up* for me. Next, came the ingredients, which is 100% vegan and organic, hence it never dries out my skin or make it flaky like other regular soaps do. However, it melts away quickly since it doesn't contain any artificial hardeners or preservatives. So it is better to cut it into smaller pieces according to requirement (lesson learnt :P ). Also, I am not sure if the aromatic properties and claims worked at all, as I didn't see much changes. Yes, it does give a pretty good feeling being a luxurious soap but then I didn't notice any extraordinary effects.

WHAT I LIKED:
  • Contains only vegan ingredients and other essential oils.
  • I really liked the muted Jasmine smell, but then it doesn't stay on the skin.
  • Lathers nicely and doesn't dry out my skin.
  • Being a luxurious soap, you get quite a good quantity for the price.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
  • You need to keep the soap dry and cut it into amounts as required, else it melts away quickly.
  • I didn't see any extraordinary effects as per the product claims. I guess you won't see any immediate results, but maybe with longer usage it might show.
  • Some of the particles in the soap pokes at skin, which I find a bit odd.
VERDICT: If you are into organic or aromatic products, then I think you should check out the Soulflower range, as they are pretty affordable and good for skin. Even, I would like to try out some of the other frangrances like Bite Me Chocolate, Everyskin Lavender Soap, etc.

Some of my recent wins :)

Hey beauties! Meet the famous Miss. Procrastinator -> ME! :P
It's high time that I share my latest giveaway/contest wins in last few months (Yes! I am greedy and just a bit of lucky :D ), and acknowledge all the lovely people behind my winnings.

Spastore.in held their pre-launch giveaways and I won this beautiful Soulflower hamper in one of them, last December.

I am yet to try out the lovely products. I would surely post my reviews on them once I do.

Now, eagerly waiting for the launch of Spastore.in, also do check out the super cute website of Soulflower and their lovely range of products.

I was one of the winners of 50(SGD) Unestablish.com gift certificates by Angie from http://www.pandaphilia.com/.

I must specially mention, that the person from Unestablish.com with whom I was communicating with, has been really sweet with me throughout the whole transaction process, making special arrangements to send out the product to me, when I didn't have the option for the online transaction.

I ordered a t-shirt for my brother (yes, I am nice to him..sometimes :P) with the Gift Card. Special thanks to Angie for this fabulous giveaway.

Last but not the least, another Sigma brush in my kit. :D If you guys remember that I was a participant in Handmade Reviews Beauty Blog Awards 2011? Sadly, I didn't win but my blog was shortlisted (check out the badge on my sidebar) and each of the shortlisted bloggers received a $20 Gift Certificate. And so, I ordered the Sigma F40 brush with this GC during Christmas. And it took forever, to get delivered. This delay was the main reason that this post got so much postponed. Finally, I received it last week. and yay I am so happy :D

Now, I have also signed up for their affiliation program and might receive another complimentary gift. Hope it arrives faster. :P
