How many of you dare to experiment with your beauty products? By experiment I mean using your lip liners as eye liners, lipsticks as base for blushes, body washes on face, face scrubs on body and so on and so forth? Well, I am sure most of you have your own little lab of experiments, as I do have mine. We all look for products that may serve multipurpose uses in case of (read: beauty) emergencies.
And then I get this product which claims to be a body spray but I didn’t dare to wear it like one. Interestingly, I found a few innovative uses from this though. Yes I am talking about the Super Body Care Body Spray.
PRICE: $6.95 ea
QUANTITY: 2oz
INGREDIENTS: Water, Denatured Alcohol, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Polysorbate 80, Tocopherol Acetate (Vitamine E), Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Mentha Piperata (Peppermint) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Citrus Bergamia (Bergamot) Oil, Melaleuca Alternifiolia (Tea Tree) Oil. Only 30% alcohol
WHAT IT CLAIMS: “This cleansing and refreshing Body Spray harnesses the powerful plant oils of Peppermint, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Lavender. Providing crisp and clean hygiene in the simplicity of a great-smelling spray, it contains ONLY 30% alcohol and added vitamin E to preserve and supplement your skin's protective layers. Use as a body spray cleanser for optimal skin health, body spritzer scent, deodorizer, or to smell good any time and any place. May also be used on surfaces.”
MY EXPERIENCE: Few months ago, I read a DIY tip for quick cleansing of brushes with hand sanitizer on Sonia’s blog . So, when I received this product and I was trying for alternative uses (as I did not want to smell like some peppermint mouth freshener) from this product, I got this idea to apply Sonia’s tip and voila, a successful experiment accomplished. Can’t believe? See for yourself in the pictures below :)
My Dirty Kabuki Brush |
Sprayed some and then swirled it on back of my hand |
Almost Clean brush. Repeat again if required. The brush doesn't become too wet and so no need to waste time for drying it. |
Now comes the other experiment I did. Me being me, always scratch where it itches (no pun/indecency intended :P). So I had these tiny eruptions on my cheek left from my scratching (which looked like going-to-be-budding pimples and I was terrified). I remembered the PR from Super body care I communicate with, mention something about it’s uses like rapidly heal bug bites, or any wound or unhealthy skin. And going by it’s ingredients and it’s anti-bacterial claims, I dared to spritz a bit on the scratched area before going to bed. It started tingling (like a cooling sensation) and it stopped the itching and soothed the area, and next morning the bumps were reduced too and by the evening they were no more visible.
WHAT I LIKED:
- It acts like a soothing agent on scratches, infections/bug bites and the likes but I don’t recommend this as an alternative to any medication.
- Acts great as a quicky brush cleanser for me and saves time for drying the brushes.
- The product can be used for multipurposes which I definitely like the most and look forward to experiment more with it.
- Comes in a handy Spritzer bottle.
- No mineral oil or petroleum based ingredients. Mainly consists of plant matter and essential oils.
- Super Body Care doesn’t test on animals.
- It is paraben free.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:
- Honestly, I didn’t find anything wrong with this product apart from my aversion of using it like a body spray. Only issue is it’s availability here in India.
#Note: Super Body care advertises its products mainly in USA and Australia markets as of now due to hodgepodge international regulations.
VERDICT: I quite liked it as it is a handy product for quick fixes as I stated above. And I am sure you won’t be disappointed too, if you can get your hands on it.
RATINGS: 4.75 out of 5
