Models Own Nail Polishes Review and some NOTDS

Hello beauties! I have been delaying this post for so many days as I didn’t have all the pictures assembled at one place. Well, I assembled them out today and thought of reviewing the Models Own Nail Polish range that I have won a few months back :D.

I won’t call myself a polish junkie but I love doing all that konad stuff sometimes so was in a frenzy of getting new polishes and when I won this range from the Models Own FB page it was cherry on the top for me.

WHAT IT CLAIMS: “Stay on-trend right down to the tips of your toes. Creamy or pearly, glittery or neon, all our nail polishes glide on smoothly and are hardwearing and long lasting. Designed for fashion and fun!”

INGREDIENTS: Toluene, Butyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Isopropyl Alcohol, Ethyl Acetate, Tosylamide/Formaldehyde Resin, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Adipic Acid/Isophthalic Acid/Neopentyl Glycol/Trimethylolpropane Copolymer, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Camphor, Drometrizole. MY EXPERIENCE: All the five polishes that I have used are pastel colors and are creamy in texture. Out of these 5, I love the Lilac Dream, Pastel Pink and Blooboo the most (in that order).  Jade Stone resembles my Lotus Herbals Go Grapes shade a lot, while Coral reef makes my hands look a bit darker. Here is how they fared on my nails, 

WHAT I LIKED: 

• They are super creamy nail polishes and two coats are enough for opaque color. A great option for water-marbling too. (I tried to do it and the polishes worked great but I failed to get through the whole process. :( :P)

• The brush is of great quality and spreads the polish evenly.
• Dries up pretty fast. After 5mins it feels a bit squishy and some 10 mintues later you can run your hands over it without any imprint.

• 14ml is quite a huge quantity and would last a while.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:

• After it dries up on nails, it forms tiny bubbles and this is the case with all the colors. I don’t know if something is wrong with this batch of colors or my nails.
• Chips or starts peeling in 3-4 days.
• Well it is quite pricey when converted to INR and along with that the shipping charges can create a huge hole in the pocket.
• As it is so creamy, I fear that it would dry up in the bottle soon.

VERDICT: Since I use it as base for konad nail art I don’t mind the bubbles but it doesn’t last on the nails for long which is a con for being a bit pricey nail polish. You might give it a try for all the awesome colors available in their range if online shopping is not a bother for you.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks Shade My Mahogany and Warm Me Up Swatches & Review

Hey girlies! Hope you had a great weekend. To scour away the monday morning blues I present to you two gorgeous MLBB shades from Maybelline Colorsensational range. Well as you might know that I am more of a lipgloss girl than a lipstick one, so I don’t have many lipsticks in my collection and was looking around for some nude lippies. I was on the verge of buying the NYX in Frappuccino but in the end I backed out as I didn’t find the swatches much assuring to what I wanted, and grabbed up My Mahogany instead and did I say I fell in love :x with it on first sight. But it was feeling a bit lonely in my lipstick stash, so I chose another companion for it in the shade Warm Me Up :-*. 

 There are a total of 54 gorgeous shades with many pinks, browns. plums and nudes to choose from. My Mahogany is a nude brown shade with peachy undertones and it would suit everyone …EVERYONE, while Warm Me Up is a gorgeous nude pink with mauvish undertones.

MY EXPERIENCE: My Mahogany is a shade that would suit every skintone. I would tag it “The Congeniality Shade” at the risk of sounding like a stupid beauty contest host. Warm Me Up would suit fair to medium tones and also duskier tones depending upon your undertones. It doesn’t wash me out but I can’t compare it with the beauty of My Mahogany. Both the lipsticks are extremely creamy and moisturising and you don’t need a balm underneath. It doesn’t dry out lips even when it fades away.

WHAT I LIKED:

• Both are decently pigmented, creamy and very moisturising. Even being nude shades both gives full coverage to pigmented lips.
• The smell is of cocoa butter (I think so as it seems similar to all other cocoa butter products I am using) which is delicious to me and I tend to forget that it is a lipstick and not a candy. But it is tasteless.
• Comes in a classy packaging. Also the pinks, browns/nudes, plums ranges have different color caps.
• The price is quite justified for the quality of the lipstick and the packaging.
• Decent staying power of 2-3 hours and I love to do touch ups with this one. Even after fading away, lips feel soft and moisturised.
• So many shades to select from that I am sure you will get your MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade from this range.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:

• The shade Warm Me Up settles into the fine lines which I don’t like.
• Transfers to objects when touched but that is the case with half of the lipsticks in this world.
• Since they are creamy they tend to melt a bit in the case.

VERDICT: I am so much in love with My Mahogany that I can write some romantic songs for it now (*ahem* ..well a bit exaggerated I know :P) and would buy it forever until I get any better dupe of it, and would love to try some other shades too from this range.

Let me start today's topic with some questions. How many of you find using eyeshadows in your makeup procedure a hectic messy task? Do you wish to create those gorgeous smokey eyes or blending those beautiful colors to create some gorgeous look but fail to do so everytime? Well worry no more. It’s not every day an innovation comes along that fundamentally changes the way consumers use a product, but the makeup industry appear to be achieving that feat with press-on eye shadow kits.

Applying traditional eye shadow requires considerable skill, time and expertise with brushes, sponges or other applicators. Matching colours can also be tricky, and eye shadow cakes are prone to crumbling and spilling, leaving consumers with the potential for a mess. Maybelline Colossal Kajal Review

Hey ya friends! Well I guess I am the last one left in the Indian beauty blogosphere to review the much hyped Maybelline Colossal Kajal. Is the hype worth it? It definitely is! As you might know by now that I love these twist-up eye-kohl/kajal pencils and this one is from my recent purchases. After going through numerous online swatches I definitely needed this one in my kitty.

INGREDIENTS: Not mentioned.

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

“Our deepest black pigments + unique tip deliver the blackest black shine ever. Color glides on smooth and so intense. Formula enriched with Vitamin E soothes the eyes. Never before 6H of smudge resistant wear. Our exclusive color fix formula guarantees intense color results that won't smudge, budge or fade. No more touchups.”

MY EXPERIENCE: I am forever looking for Kohl liners/Kajals that shows up well on my dark rimmed eyes. And I am glad I found one that manages to do that quite well. I use it to line my upperlids, tightline and waterline and I never feel any discomfort or irritation. Oh and did I tell ya that this is a special product because it was created exclusively for the Indian market by Maybelline India and presumably it's not available in any other country :P :D (I guess we deserve it as we miss all the E.L.Fs, M.U.As, WnWs, etc.).

WHAT I LIKED: 

• It is smudge-proof and water-proof. Until you get in a WWE fight with your eyelids and try to rub it off hard (very hard!) it won’t give you the raccoon eyes.

• Glides on perfectly and stays put on my eyelids even more than the 6 hour claim and didn’t budge until I used cleanser to remove it (doesn’t get off with water).
• The price is just.. SWEET.
• Didn’t irritate my eyes at all. No scratchy/ dry-feeling too.
• I know it comes in a little quantity but I love that fact too, as I always plan to use up my cosmetics and hit pan but never actually do so as something else grabs my fancy (Read: I still have the Lotus Herbals kohl liner with more than half the quantity and it is almost over a year). So little quantity means it would finish up fast and I don’t have to worry about product expiration.
• I liked the cute yellow packaging.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: 

• It is a bit creamy (or it acts like one on high temperature days) and breaks off a little under pressure (like in very tiny chunks).

• Cleansing it off is a pain but I don’t mind it as I love everything else about this kohl pencil. :)

VERDICT: At 150 bucks it is definitely worth it and as of now it is my HG kohl until I find a replacement. I would love to call this a Kohl-liner and not a kajal as it is quite slimmer than kajals and glides on like a liner. You must try it out once if you still haven’t and this won’t pinch your pocket much.
